The head of the Iraqi parliament Mohammed al-Halbusi, during a meeting with Kuwait's ambassador to Iraq Salim al-Zamanan, said Kuwait's role in supporting the country.
Al-Zamanan told KUNA that he offered Halabousi during the meeting his congratulations on the occasion of his assumption of the presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, stressing that Kuwait is always keen to be on the side of Iraq and support him.
He pointed out that the speaker of the Iraqi parliament expressed his country's appreciation to the government and people for Arab support in all its forms, especially the support provided by Kuwait in supporting Basra in the fields of electricity and water.
Halaboussi, a former governor of Anbar province and a member of the parliamentary building bloc, won the post of speaker of the parliament after he won 169 of the 298 votes cast.
