The Observatory of Liberties responds to the decision of the media: a threat to the safety of free staff - Iraq

[rtl]The Iraqi Media and Communications Commission has been responsible for the safety and security of employees of the US-based Al-Hurra TV channel after it issued a decision to stop broadcasting the channel on Monday.[/rtl]
[rtl]"The authority violated the decision to stop broadcasting licenses for the channel against the backdrop of a report published last week on corruption in religious institutions in Iraq," Bashar al-Mandlawi, a Washington Observatory representative, said in a statement.[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Mandlawi warned that "indirectly holding the communications staff of the channel as stated in the report, in a hasty statement, would provoke emotions against the employees of the channel, which could endanger their lives," adding, "Iraq has witnessed similar cases back 17 years ago."[/rtl]
[rtl]He explained that "the violation is legal because the decision to stop broadcasting licenses has not been issued by the competent court yet, and was not preceded by any alerts, the TRA was trying to distance itself from the report and this was not specified by the judiciary," calling on the Communications Commission to "analyze the depth of the report away from political emotions or Religious that may provoke hatred in such sensitive times.
