A parliamentarian points out "flawed mistakes" and a "very serious point" in the election law

Shafaq News / Representative Hoshyar Abdullah described the election law that was passed by the parliament as defective and includes "flawed legal errors".
Abdullah said in a statement today: "There is a big mistake in this law, and it is shameful for the legislature to pass it, which is the lack of a schedule for distributing electoral districts according to the election law, and the worst and most dangerous of that is that the Speaker of Parliament before voting on the law In general, he stated that these tables should be prepared in the future and be approved by the Presidency and the Legal Committee, while the tables in all previously legitimate laws were an integral part of the law and should be voted upon in the House of Representatives.
He added, "We are also surprised by the deputies who voted on this law without knowing on what basis the electoral districts were distributed, and this point is very dangerous, because according to the distribution of the electoral districts, there will be manipulation of the population numbers in the districts by the influential people in them, and they will be able to increase or Reducing the number of seats. "
Abdullah said: "This law is incomplete and Parliament must vote on the schedule of the distribution of electoral districts. This mistake, which occurred because of the desire of some to pass the law urgently, should be corrected, especially since until this moment the Electoral Commission has not been formed according to the new Commission law, and the steps The initial formation of the commission is subject to significant disadvantages, and mechanisms for selecting and identifying those responsible should be reviewed. "
He continued: "The urgency in passing the law is caused by secret agreements between the major parties on the election law and the commission," noting: "The street rises up and offers sacrifices, martyrs and wounded, while the major parties agree on the laws of elections and the commission according to the formula that serves their interests."
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi parliament had voted on Tuesday on the legislative elections law despite the protest of the Kurdish blocs.
