Iraq opposes imposing embargo and economic sanctions on Russia
Shafaq News/ On Thursday, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein said that his country, in principle, opposes imposing blockade and economic sanctions on any people, in a clear reference to Russia.
This came during his meeting with the Dutch Minister of Trade and Development Cooperation, Licia Srinemacher. During the meeting, the minister affirmed Baghdad's keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation mechanisms at various levels in a way that achieves the common interests of the two friendly peoples, especially the activation of the Iraqi-Dutch joint committee, which will reflect on development and cooperation in the investment and investment sectors. Pointing out that the support provided by the Dutch side to Iraq shows the distinguished level of relations between the two countries in the field of agriculture, irrigation and all other fields.
In a statement issued by the ministry today, the minister stressed Iraq's quest to establish the best relations, the importance of achieving partnership between Iraq and the Netherlands, and the continuation of cooperation in the training, trade and agricultural sectors. Noting that Iraq is a fertile environment for investment; Because of its many wealth, he called for the necessity of the Netherlands' participation in the reconstruction of infrastructure, and to benefit from its expertise in the field of water resources management.
The statement added that the minister reviewed the efforts of the Iraqi government in dealing with the issue of migration, and the measures it has taken to return Iraqis stranded at the borders of a number of European Union countries such as Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, through special flights organized by Iraqi Airways, stressing the importance of continuing the migration dialogue. Existing with the European side, and supporting programs to encourage the voluntary return of Iraqi refugees in European countries by preparing special programs to rehabilitate this segment.
The Minister also presented a summary of the steps taken by the Iraqi government to combat smuggling networks and the solidarity of national authorities to raise societal awareness and clarify the disadvantages and consequences of migration.
