"Save a Homeland" from Erbil: We are open to the forces that believe in the government of the national majority
Shafaq News/ The "Save the Homeland" coalition, which includes the Kurdistan Democratic Party, the Sovereignty Alliance and the Sadrist bloc, affirmed on Monday its openness to the political forces that believe in forming a national majority government.
This happened, after a meeting held by the coalition in Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region, according to a statement received by Shafaq News Agency.
In its statement, the coalition confirmed its agreement that the Iraqi parliament would "take its role in legislating laws that are in the interest of citizens, as well as exercising its oversight role," noting that it "continues in its dialogues with independents after the initiative launched by the coalition."
The meeting comes a day after the announcement made by the spokesman of the Democratic Party, the resumption of meetings with the Iraqi political parties in order to break the state of political closure controlling the Iraqi scene, following the announcement of the results of the parliamentary elections and the formation of the "Save the Nation" coalition.
The comprehensive coordinating framework of Shiite forces, and the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, had each put forward an initiative to resolve the blockage, as the framework initiative consisted of nine points, and was accompanied by nine commitments, which included a pivotal role for the independents in naming the prime minister, provided that it is within the framework of the Shiite component, followed by Al-Sadr’s initiative to invite independent representatives to form an independent bloc to form the government away from the coordination framework, after a period of forty days granted to the framework in order to form the government in isolation from his current.
With the end of the deadline comes a new failure in the attempts of the framework or the movement to find an understanding with the other forces in order to set a new date for holding a parliament session, dedicated to electing a new president of the republic, and completing the constitutional entitlements represented by forming a new government.
