    Economy News-Baghdad
Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Planning announced that there are 163 substances in the market that are not subject to the examination of licensed companies, while specifying their types.
The director of the quality control department in the ministry, Wissam Saeed Asi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "more than 163 items in the market are not subject to examination by licensed companies," noting that "there are commodities in the market that are covered by the department's decisions, and we have specifications and the ability to examine them, except It is not included in a certificate of conformity from the companies, and customs have not received any form for it for examination.
Assi explained, "Among the most prominent of these unlicensed materials are cigarettes of all kinds, as well as blankets, cutlery, repairs and bicycles," noting that "the reason for not examining these materials is that they come from the Kurdistan region."
And he continued: "As for the mechanism of its crossing from controls and its entry into the markets, it is the responsibility of the regulatory authorities."
He added, "The Quality Control Department prepared a table of goods without conformity certificates available in the markets and sent it to the Council of Ministers with the signature of the Minister of Planning, and a decision was issued, but it was not implemented."
He noted that "the decision included the formation of the Consumer Protection Council, and assigning the General Authority of Customs to work at customs points with the governorates of the Kurdistan region because most of the goods enter from them, and assigning the security and national security authorities and the Ministry of Health to take the necessary correctness of import procedures in markets and warehouses."
Assi pointed out that "the implementation of Consumer Protection Law No. 1 of 2010 will solve a major crisis when implemented, as a result of which a huge body will be formed in which the Quality Control Department will be a party and will have several powers."
He pointed out that "the work of this body will include touring the markets and banning unlicensed materials from the market," stressing that "the law has been enacted in Parliament since 2010, but it has not been implemented so far."
