The Ministry of Commerce intends to distribute more than 13 million electronic ration cards after implementing this project in four governorates so far, while it has started rehabilitating tea filling and mixing factories to distribute it as part of the food basket.
The official spokesman for the ministry, the supervisor of the electronic card automation project, Muhammad Hanoun, told Al-Sabah: The ministry has formed technical committees in all governorates in cooperation with local administrations to implement the ration card automation project after it proved successful in the holy Karbala governorate first, then the governorates of Muthanna and Dohuk. And Najaf.
He added that updating the data takes place based on the unified card, after correcting all previous data and transferring them to the new system to prevent duplication of the names of those covered.
Hanoun pointed out that the ministry is continuing to distribute 8 and a half million cards, with the addition of more than 5 million cards to distribute the food basket to those covered by social care.
He referred to the initiation of a number of projects, including the rehabilitation and development of the tea mixing and packaging factories affiliated to the General Company for Foodstuff Trade in Baghdad and the provinces, after preparing a comprehensive study for the factories, as they will be opened soon and this material will be distributed within the food basket.
He stated that 15 marketing outlets will be opened in the provinces with large areas for selling foodstuffs soon, in addition to the establishment of three modern, developed and spacious marketing complexes in Baghdad during the next two months.
