    Information / Baghdad..
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor revealed on Thursday that Israel has dropped more than 25,000 tons of explosives on the Gaza Strip since October 7, the equivalent of two nuclear bombs.
The Observatory stated in a statement followed by “Al-Ma’louma” that “the weight of the nuclear bomb dropped by the United States of America on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan at the end of World War II in 1945 was estimated at about 15 thousand tons of explosives.”
He added, "The development has increased the effectiveness of the bombs while the amount of explosives remained constant, which may make the amount dropped on Gaza twice as much as a nuclear bomb. In addition, Israel is deliberately using a mixture known as "RDX", which is called "the complete science of explosives." Its strength is equivalent to 1.34 TNT.
This means, according to the Observatory, that “the destructive power of the explosives dropped on Gaza exceeds what was dropped on Hiroshima, noting that the area of the Japanese city is 900 square kilometers, while the area of Gaza does not exceed 360 kilometers.”
The Observatory for Human Rights said that Israel uses bombs with huge destructive power, some of which range from 150 kilograms to 1,000 kilograms, pointing to the statement of Israeli Security Minister Yoav Galant that more than 10,000 bombs were dropped on Gaza City alone (its area is 590 km).
According to what was mentioned, it has been documented that Israel used internationally banned weapons in its attacks on the Gaza Strip, especially cluster bombs and phosphorus, which is a waxy toxic substance that reacts quickly with oxygen and causes severe second- and third-degree burns.
He continued, "Our team documented cases of injuries among those wounded in Israeli attacks that are similar to those caused by dangerous cluster bombs, as they contain small, high-explosive devices, so that the fragments penetrate the body and cause explosions inside it, with severe burns that lead to melting the skin of those affected and sometimes to death, in addition to that “These fragments cause strange swelling and poisoning in the body, including transparent fragments that do not appear on x-rays.”
Israel also used explosive bombs with huge destructive effects in populated areas, which represents the most serious threat to civilians in contemporary armed conflicts. This explains the severity of the massive destruction and the leveling of entire residential neighborhoods and turning them into rubble and ruin in the Gaza Strip.
He stressed that Israel's destructive, indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks represent a clear violation of the laws of war and the rules of humanitarian law, which stipulates that the protection of civilians is a duty in all cases and under any circumstances. The killing of civilians is considered a war crime in both international and non-international armed conflicts, and may amount to a crime against Humanity.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor called for the formation of an independent international investigation committee into the size of the explosives and the internationally prohibited weapons that Israel has used and is still using against civilians in the Gaza Strip, and to hold accountable those responsible for that, including those who issued orders, plans and implemented them, and to take measures to achieve justice for the Palestinian victims. Ended/25
