Member of the Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, Kazem Al-Touki, indicated today, Tuesday, the development of intensive plans to reduce oil smuggling.
Al-Touki stated, “The Oil Pipeline Company worked to introduce technology and sensors to limit oil smuggling operations.”
He added, “The current government, represented by the Ministry of Oil, in coordination with the security and intelligence services, carried out campaigns against oil smugglers in a number of governorates, which resulted in the arrest of some gangs that smuggle oil in various ways.”
He pointed out that “his committee discussed with the concerned authorities the export system and the problems it faces in some pipelines that are intended to be included in the ministry’s plans,” stressing that “a subcommittee was formed earlier to follow up on smuggling, whether it is crude oil or other petroleum products.”
