Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf: Hussein Al-Kaabi
The Najaf Electricity Distribution Branch announced that there are five substations with a capacity of (33/11 KV) that will enter service at the beginning of next May.
The branch director, Safaa Al-Khalidi, told Al-Sabah: These stations will be in Al-Manathira District, Al-Abbasiya District, Maysan District, Al-Mahna District in Kufa District, and Al-Nasr District in the center of Najaf Governorate.
He added that four mobile transfer stations will be added in the center of Kufa district, because it witnesses great momentum during religious visits and events, no less than the momentum witnessed by the center of Najaf city, so it has been reinforced with mobile stations.
Al-Khalidi added that there are mobile conversion stations that will be installed in the center of Najaf Governorate in the areas of Al-Milad, Al-Nidaa, Al-Radawiyah, and the Najaf-Karbala road in preparation for the Arbaeen visit, noting that the branch has developed a plan to increase the capacity of equipment in the event that the share of Najaf increases during the next summer, by completing dismantling projects. Bottlenecks, so that the network can accommodate 22 processing hours if the increase in Najaf’s share of energy is achieved.
He explained that the amount of equipment that reaches the governorate is linked to the federal decision, and the share that the governorate receives is related to the number of population and its being a religious or commercial center, as well as the amount of production and other determinants, and in the event of an increase in energy production, the governorate’s share will increase.
He stated that the governorate needs two thousand megawatts at peak times during the summer, but these days it needs 1,100 or 1,200 megawatts to cover the need, while the amount reaching the governorate is 800 megawatts currently.
He added that work is continuing to add conversion stations and increase the number of feeders in the next stage, to reach the end of bottlenecks in the entire network, pointing out that there is a work plan to add five new conversion stations that were recently approved, and they will be in the areas where we expect loads to increase through requests made. It was submitted to us by the directors of administrative units in all districts and districts of the governorate, and it was also approved to change the old lines for a number of stations and add new feeders.
