Member of the Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, Kazem Al-Touki, confirmed today, Thursday, that the government will continue its decision to raise the price of improved gasoline fuel.
Al-Touki said, “The House of Representatives, through the Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, supports the government’s decision to raise the price of improved fuel.”
He added, "The decision is concerned with those with high incomes, in addition to the need to preserve the Petroleum Products Company and make it a profitable company, not a losing one," indicating, "The company buys gasoline at multiple times the price sold at the stations."
He stated, "The state depends on oil revenues mainly to support the budget." Iraq is considered one of the first and cheapest countries in terms of fuel pricing, unlike other countries that sell fuel at international prices.”
