Heading the Civil Aviation Authority to the opening of four international airlines in the coming period, and included in its plan to expand its route flights.
According to Director General of Civil Aviation Authority , Ministry of Transport, Hussein Mohsen in a statement made by »Sabah» Ban Aviation Authority is moving at the moment to open four global airlines of which line (Baghdad - Pakistan) and (BAGHDAD - The United States) and (Baghdad - Tunisia), as well as line (Baghdad - Rome) during the next term.
He pointed out that the opening of these lines is part of its plan to expand its global air lines, especially after he saw the air traffic much activity lately, reflecting a definite desire of these countries to re - air a new cooperation with Iraq.
Between Mohsin said the Civil Aviation Authority are working to abide by all the guidelines set forth in the Universal Aviation Organization, revealing that the works are currently underway for the rehabilitation of the first runway at Baghdad International Airport, who noted that he would be in conformity with international standards.
He stressed that the rehabilitation works and reached advanced levels of achievement, to be then go to the maintenance of the second runway after the completion of the preparation for maintenance work designs to be viewed on specialized companies to implement, especially as the runway is suffering from weak infrastructure.
For its part, the technical assistant to the Baghdad International Airport Leila Hussein Karim said in a statement »Sabah»: The air field at Baghdad airport suffers many problems, including the lack of runway dirt landing forced in the absence of the descent of the aircraft wheels, as required in accordance with the ILO standards World Airways, to be on both sides of the runway a distance of 150 meters and cleaning the dirt roads of herbs, as well as it is a magnet for birds and other factor which pose a threat to aircraft landings and takeoffs.
He noted that the drainage channels in the air field is the other was suffering from neglect, is being cleaned those channels , which extends for a distance of seven kilometers, as the water accumulation in those channels will weaken from a stacked air field and weaken the basic layer of the runway and therefore it can not tolerate weight of the aircraft, noting that the work of cleaning and rehabilitation taking place broadly and significantly in all air field facilities.[/rtl]
