The Democrats in Congress have come up with the idea of delegitimizing President Donald Trump just two months after his inauguration, for alleged links between his campaign and "Russian agents."
Democratic Congressman Ted Liu called on Congress to stop voting on all decisions and items that would support the US president as of Friday, leaving him only to perform a technical job, in light of information on alleged coordination between Trump and Russia's aides.
"Perhaps the White House is currently acting as an illegitimate president," the White House quoted the deputy as saying. She said that the Democratic senator urged his colleagues to stop looking "completely" in the initiatives proposed by President Trump, taking this step to the multiplicity of reports on coordination between the aides to the President of the United States and Moscow before the presidential election.
The newspaper said, as CNN recently published, quoting a number of US officials, that the FBI has information on the coordination between Trump assistants and "Russian agents" during the presidential election in 2016. They were obtained as a result of attacks by hackers.
"It is very interesting, perhaps, that the White House in the United States now occupies an illegal president." The Hill newspaper reported, quoting Senator Liu, who eventually aims to isolate the president from office.
"Congress can not continue to operate in a normal way and must stop voting on anything that would support Trump's position until the FBI completes an investigation into the complicity between the president and Russia," said Liu.
In addition, Liu called on Congress to appoint a special prosecutor and form an independent "neutral" commission to investigate alleged communications. He also said Congress should pass a bill with another Democrat, Hakim Jefferson, to "force the Trump administration to publicly disclose to the American people its relations with Russia."
"At this important moment in the history of our country, there is nothing more important than to know whether Trump's helpers, and perhaps himself, have committed serious and very serious crimes against our country," Liu concluded.
