Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: The Iraqi parliament is forced to "change" its mechanisms for observing its

session, following the increase in the absence of its members.

Internal reports said that about 100 MPs are used to be absent for each session, but only 70 MP continued to regularly attend without any absence.

Following Da'ish (ISIS) war in 2014, only 18 MPs were granted leaves to join the Popular Mobilization and Tribal Forces, but most of the others utilized this not to attend the sessions.

The presidency of the parliament entitled a special committee to observe the attendance of the MPs through the camera network, as well as the payment of financial fines.

MP Imad Youkhana, Parliament's Rapporteur, disclosed that there are 4 MPs that overpassed their absence limits, but were given the right to give their excuses.

In the last parliamentary session, the Speaker Saleem al-Jbouri threatened to expose the names of the absent MPs, as well as demoting MP Mohammed al-Ta'i for his continued absence.
