    Information / Baghdad ..
The parliamentary legal committee said on Monday that the parliament will work during its meeting today to complete the first reading of the bill to amend the fines law contained in the Penal Code, so that the fines are appropriate for the current time.
"The parliament will amend the fines stipulated in the Iraqi Penal Code, especially since the law has been legislated previously and the penalties stipulated in the dinar may not be compatible with the current stage," Hussein al-Aqabi, a member of the committee, told al-Maalouma.
Al-Aqabi added that "the fines and according to the Penal Code reached at the time of the system to 10 dinars, where some minor amendments were made to the law after 2003, and today the parliament is determined to amend the law to suit the current time."
He added that "fines are imposed on misdemeanors and offenses and are not imposed in criminal judgments, requiring an amendment from time to time."
