    America does not confirm and questioning the Iraqi with the continuation of Russia weighted the killing of Baghdadi

    Date of release:: 2017/6/16

    WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon said on Friday it had no information to support Russia's announcement that its troops might have killed a leader calling on terrorist Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in an air strike near the Syrian city of Raqqa last month.
    "We have no information to support these reports," Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said.
    A White House official said today that the US administration can not provide any information on the report of the Russian Defense Ministry the possibility of killing Baghdadi.
    State television quoted the Kremlin as saying Defense Minister Sergei Shuiju told the Security Council in his country under President Vladimir Putin on Sunday that Baghdadi might have been killed.
    Russia's Channel 24 quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Piskov as saying that "the Defense Ministry informed the attendees that as a result of a strike carried out by the Russian air force in Raqqa more than 100 terrorists were neutralized, including senior leadership and perhaps al-Baghdadi."
    The US-led international coalition said it could not confirm the death of a leader, while several Iraqi officials told Reuters they were skeptical of the report.
