    Iraqi-Turkey-Iranian water war underway

Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: In the light of the numerous Turkish Iranian dams, Iraq is threatened with the lack of water and electricity.

Turkey is planning to build 22 dams on both the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers that will deprive Iraq of its international water share.

To this, we add the Iranian dams and tunnels which aimed at destroying Iraqi Kurdish agriculture.

The Kurdish region warned during the past week of Iranian closure of the flow of the Lower Zab River.

On the other side, the Iraqi government stressed the real dangers threatening the Kurdish region, because most of foreign rivulets pour into the Iraqi Kurdish region.

Experts believe that both Turkey and Iran did not abide by the joint water agreements.

In addition, fears are mounting that the Iranian closure of water will affect the Iraqi Derbendikhan dam which depends on Iranian waters in generating electricity.

It is expected that the completion of Iranian dams in 2018 will affect the Kurdish region with droughts, that will result in destroying great spaces of lands.

The case in southern Iraq is no different from that in the north which affected the drinking water there and increasing salty areas.
