BAGHDAD - The Journal News
said the official spokesman for the Oil Ministry , Assem Jihad , said the contract signed for the investment of associated gas from the fields of Nasiriyah and Gharraf was with GE US, and begin the first year investment of approximately 70 - 100 million cubic meters per day and rising to nearly 200-300 million cubic meters in the subsequent year.

Jihad said in a statement to «Journal News», Sunday, that the investment in the gas enters the additional revenues of the federal Muiznh, adding that the contract will result in amounts of condensate and gas liquid and dry, indicating that Iraq after starting production from Basra field and investment and other fields, it is possible achieving part of self-sufficiency and export the surplus.

Jihad said that "the oil ministry has drawn up plans and strategies and steps are underway to invest associated gas refining operations and oil production, and to increase the export and oil production rates there will be an increase in rates associated with gas extraction."

And that "2019 will, according to the plans in the ministry self-sufficiency of gas and possible export surplus of it, pointing out that the oil ministry began its steps to invest gas from four fields of southern Iraq and the fields of Nasiriyah and Gharraf, and the next Maysan field and other fields, respectively."

He said Oil and Energy Committee member Tariq friend Rashid told the «Journal News», said that "Iraq needs a real approach to investment associated with the extraction of oil and natural gas, re-produced and not thrown away through to exploit it optimally, whether for domestic consumption or to run generators or export such as oil ".

He added, "The investment of this wealth process needs to industries based gas produced locally to produce different materials covering the growing market demand, such as the chemical fertilizer industry, said the surplus is exported abroad."

Also it pointed out that "indicators confirm the presence of large amounts of gas in Anbar province in western Iraq and in Amara and Basra, as in the southern province of Kirkuk, northern and containing millions of cubic meters of gas."

He called Rashid, the central government to give gas file, especially the importance of the utmost and he enters in many local industries.
In the same regard, he confirmed oil expert, Hamza jeweler in a special statement to (Journal) that " the gas file has become an obsession with the successive governments at the Ministry of Oil."

He added that "the natural gas needs a lot of processors, including processed sulfur and water, in addition to operations through a giant pipeline pumping stretches from the far south towards the north of the country to distribute it efficiently to power plants and then supply petrochemical projects."

He pointed out the jeweler, that "the system of gas production needs a lot of ingredients, including capital planning and optimization and careful design, in addition to the contribution by the oil companies operating in Iraq to bear part of the financial burden related to this project."
