    Iraq and Saudi Arabia agree to invest in the Sahara and limit its expansion




    Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Mahdi al-Qaisi, Tuesday, the agreement with Iraq to Saudi Arabia to activate the investment side in the field of agriculture, especially the Sahara and limit its expansion.

    "A delegation from Iraq led by Agriculture Minister Falah Zaidan visited Saudi Arabia recently to discuss bilateral economic relations with regard to agricultural investment and desertification reduction," al-Qaisi told the Journal News.

    He added that "the Iraqi delegation signed with the Saudi Ministry of Agriculture a number of agreements on the investment of desert areas by Saudi companies, which confirmed their desire to enter Iraq."

    He pointed out that "the Saudi-Iraqi relations are in continuous development and are in their peak since 2003, and this is important for the two countries," pointing out that "the Saudi Minister of Agriculture expressed his desire to visit Iraq soon to complete the talks while no specific date has been set."

    The spokesman of the Ministry of Agriculture Hamid Al-Nayef announced on Tuesday the close visit of the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdul Rahman Al-Fadhli to promote joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of agriculture and combating desertification.
