German Foreign Minister Haiku Mas on Friday telephoned Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi.

During the contact, Mas stressed his country's desire to develop relations with Iraq and to cooperate in political, security and economic fields.

A statement from the Iraqi government quoted the German minister as saying that "a lot of large German companies want to invest in Iraq, including Siemens."

For his part, welcomed the Prime Minister of this initiative, praising the positive role of Siemens and German companies to support Iraq in the electricity sector.

The federal government in Baghdad on Thursday offered about 200 investment opportunities on the private sector in Saudi Arabia.
