Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that there is a high risk of a military clash between the United States and North Korea.
"I think the risks are very high, especially if we take this speech into account: we hear direct threats to use force," he said during a youth forum in Vladimir Province.
The Russian minister said that Moscow is concerned about Washington and Pyongyang's comments on "pre-emptive strikes" and is doing everything in its power to make matters worse.
"Talks about the need to preemptively strike North Korea and Pyongyang's talk about striking the US military base on the island of Guam do not stop, and this situation worries us a lot," he said.
Lavrov said he did not want to talk about what could happen if a preemptive strike was launched by either side. "We would do everything in our power not to create this situation," Lavrov said.
"We do not accept North Korea as a nuclear-armed state," he said
