[ltr]Iran has warned the United States against classifying the Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization and said US military bases in the region would be dangerous if new sanctions were imposed on Tehran.[/ltr]
[ltr]The warning came after the White House said on Friday that President Donald Trump would announce new US actions in response to Tehran's missile tests, its support of "terrorism" and its cyber attacks as part of its new strategy to deal with Iran.[/ltr]
[ltr]"As we have stated in the past, if the new US penal code is approved, this country must move its regional bases beyond the range of 2,000 kilometers of Iranian missiles," Revolutionary Guards chief Mohammad Ali Jafari was quoted by state media as saying.[/ltr]
[ltr]Jafari added that the additional sanctions would end the chances of any future dialogue with the United States and gave a strong warning to US forces.[/ltr]
[ltr]"If the reports of the US government's folly regarding the classification of the Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization are correct, the Revolutionary Guards will regard the US military worldwide, especially in the Middle East, as the same barricade as a preacher," Jafari said.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Revolutionary Guards are the most powerful Iranian security apparatus at home and abroad. Washington lists its terrorist organization, the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guard, a special forces unit responsible for intelligence activities and operations abroad, as well as individuals and entities linked to the Revolutionary Guard, but the US list does not include the guards themselves.[/ltr]

[ltr]However, a senior administration official expected Trump to declare confidence in the agreement in a move likely to bring about his collapse.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The Americans should know that the Islamic Republic will consider the foolish behavior of the Trump government with regard to the nuclear agreement as an opportunity to proceed with its conventional missile, regional and defense programs," state media quoted Jafari as saying.[/ltr]
