Drought besieged .. Is there a mass exodus of people from the province of Maysan?

The Maysan provincial council on Sunday warned of an environmental disaster caused by the low water level in the Tigris River.
"The scarcity of water in Maysan province has posed a real threat to natural resources," council member Mohammed Majid Shuaie said. Explaining that "the cities of Hungary, justice and the Koran suffer greatly from the scarcity of water."
He pointed out that the province of Maysan lives in an unsafe situation, and there are serious fears of the population in the continuation of this crisis, which threatens an environmental disaster will affect the fish and agricultural wealth as well as the negative impact on the population.
Shuaie warned that the scarcity of water could lead to mass exodus of Maysan residents from the countryside to the city center.
He also stressed that the position of the central government was not serious about resolving the water crisis in the province of Maysan.
In the same context warned member of the National Alliance MP Mohammed Saadoun Chihod the possibility of environmental disaster in Missan due to lack of water releases and water scarcity in the Tigris River.
"The Ministry of Water Resources is unable to solve the problems of water shortage in Maysan province and its inability to impose its control over the dams and reservoirs in the riparian provinces, or perhaps ignore the crises in Maysan province to prevent the solution of problems, especially in Kut," he said in a press release.
He added that the water crisis in the province of Maysan caused the drought of rivers and streams and damaged thousands of acres of agricultural and the death of a large number of livestock that rely on irrigation water in pastures, noting that the ministry has not yet find alternative plans to enable them to address the problems of water scarcity through the drilling of artesian wells or Install desalination plants to compensate for the seasons of health.
He pointed out that the areas of Greater Hungary, Mashreh, Maymunah, Al-Qalaa, Al-Azir and Al-Kahla are threatened by an environmental disaster that could destroy life, nature and water because of the water shortage if the ministry does not initiate urgent solutions to solve the crisis which has recently deteriorated.
