BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A Saudi newspaper reported on Sunday that it was holding consultations with Iraq to persuade Iran to ease its military presence in Syria, while US pressure on Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to withdraw Iranian advisers was revealed.
"There are Western consultations on the Iraqi political role that Baghdad can play with Tehran to reduce the Iranian military presence in Syria," the newspaper Al Watan said in a report.
The newspaper added that "the National Security Council, which includes the sovereign ministries in Iraq, recently touched on scenarios related to the military air escalation between Israel and Iran in Syria and the impact on Iraq."
"Western pressure, especially from the United States, France and Britain, to urge Abadi to withdraw the Iranian advisers from his country after the end of the war on the organization of a preacher," the newspaper said in its report. Ending / 25
