The British Foreign Office has warned its nationals against the dangers of going to Dubai this summer because the UAE coasts are threatened by rockets fired by the Houthi group in Yemen.
The Sun newspaper published a statement by the British Foreign Office warning citizens not to spend summer vacation in the UAE because of the increasing threats of Yemeni ballistic missiles on UAE cities.
The warning came "out of concern that the Houthi missiles, which targeted Saudi Arabia, could hit the UAE with increasing range and capabilities," the paper said.
The al-Houthi group had already spoken of a rocket launch against Abu Dhabi in December, but the UAE authorities denied it.
"In 2018, many rockets were fired at Saudi Arabia from Yemen, the majority of which were intercepted and destroyed, but there were few casualties and casualties," the Foreign Office said in a statement.
He added: «Media reports that there were attempts (Houthi) to target the UAE with missiles».
More than 1.5 million British visitors travel to the UAE every year, and there are more than 100,000 British residing there.
Dubai, as one of the emirates of the UAE, is currently involved in a diplomatic spat with Qatar, where tourists are warned not to speak publicly about Doha's support for social media.
In the UAE, showing sympathy to Qatar for social media or any other means of communication is a crime punishable by imprisonment or a fine, the Sun reported.
