Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih said on Sunday he could not influence oil prices, two days after US President Donald Trump asked OPEC to cut fuel prices.

The statement was made by the Saudi minister in Algeria ahead of a joint meeting of OPEC ministers and independent producers, including Russia, to discuss the situation in the world crude markets.

Trump had accused the OPEC in a tweet published on Thursday on Twitter monopoly oil market, calling on the Organization to work to reduce fuel prices immediately, against the backdrop of the rise in the price of crude international benchmark "Brent" to $ 80 per barrel this month.

Al-Falih pointed out that the world's crude oil reserves are reassuring, but it is important to take future steps to ensure the stability of the oil market, pointing out that this market needs steps ahead of any fluctuations in supply and demand, aiming to achieve balance during the next year.

The minister stressed Saudi Arabia's call to invite more oil producers in the world to join the agreement to cut production "OPEC +".
