A South Korean court on Friday sentenced former President Lee Myung-bak to 15 years in prison.

A Seoul court sentenced former South Korean President Lee Myung-bak to 15 years in prison, the latest high-ranking official to be jailed on charges of corruption, the Reuters news agency reported.

He is the fourth president to be jailed. The former president of the country, Pak John Hye, who was in power, was sentenced to prison in a corruption scandal that ousted her from power in early 2017 and fueled concerns about close ties between the government and businessmen.
Li has been charged with accepting nearly $ 10 million in illegal money from companies such as Samsung and the country's intelligence service, but denied any wrongdoing, saying the investigations were politically motivated.
