The Russian Foreign Ministry has denied claims that there was a Russian proposal to partially lift sanctions against Tehran in exchange for the withdrawal of Iranian troops from Syria.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters on Wednesday that Moscow had not proposed to Israel and the United States to lift part of the sanctions imposed on Tehran in exchange for the withdrawal of its troops from Syrian territory.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed during a closed meeting before the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense of the Knesset, a Russian-Israeli-US deal, which could lead to the withdrawal of Iranian militias from Syria, according to Israeli media reported.
The Israeli Channel 10 reported Tuesday evening that the deal included the removal of the Iranian forces from Syria in return for easing US sanctions against Tehran.
For his part, drew the newspaper "Maariv" that Netanyahu said Monday before the members of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that Russian President Vladimir Putin offered to ease the US sanctions on Iran in exchange for withdrawal from Syria.
Netanyahu met Putin in Paris, 10 days ago, on the sidelines of the events marking the centenary of the end of the First World War.
Meanwhile, Israeli Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Gadi Eisenkot warned Tuesday of Iranian positioning in Syria.
During his tour of the Golan Heights, First Lieutenant Gadi Eisenkot pointed out that Hezbollah is far from the capabilities the Iranians aspire to form, even though it has gained increased military and operational experience.
For its part, the United States called on Tuesday all foreign countries, primarily Iran, to withdraw its troops deployed in Syria.
In response to a question about the Iranian militias in Syria, the US Special Envoy for Syria, James Jeffrey, told a news conference on Tuesday by telephone: "These Iranian forces are not only to support the Assad regime but to achieve long-term goals in the region is to impose hegemony To achieve its benefits and transform power in Syria as it did in Lebanon and Yemen and try in other countries. "
He noted that since US President Donald Trump took office, the US focus in Syria shifted from the fate of President Bashar al-Assad to a focus on combating Iran's role in Syria.
The US envoy also stressed that the withdrawal of Iranian troops from Syria is an undisputed demand and that changing the Syrian regime's conduct is a condition for Syria to receive international aid.
