Syria announces high rate of exports to Iraq

The value of Syrian exports through the crossing of the share of 3 billion Syrian pounds between October 17 and the end of December 2018, according to the Director of Economy and Foreign Trade in Daraa Khaled Zaher.
The opening of the Nisib border crossing between Syria and Jordan has helped boost exports to Arab countries that are members of the Greater Arab Trade Organization (GCC), particularly Iraq, Egypt, Jordan and the Gulf states, the newspaper Tishreen reported.
Al-Zaher said that the volume of exports through the share in the period mentioned amounted to 3.160 billion Syrian pounds.
These included surplus agricultural production such as citrus, apples, pomegranates, carrots, onions and other vegetables, as well as jams.
He pointed out that the number of permits and approvals granted during the past year amounted to 345 licenses and approval of 19.5 billion Syrian pounds. Imports include raw materials and intermediates required for industrial production - investment and commercial sector of the requirements of the chemical, conversion, engineering and agricultural industries.
Al-Zahir expected the increase in general economic activity in Daraa after its stability, pointing out that this is reflected positively on the production rates and the decline in price levels.
On October 15, Jordan and Syria reopened the crossing after its closure in 2015 because of the control of the militants.
