The Basra provincial council announced on Sunday that there are more than $ 25 billion of debts accumulated for several years of petrodollar allocations owed by the central government.
Council member Ali Shaddad told the / information /, that "the government's dealings with the southern provinces missed the transparency and justice compared to the Kurdistan region."
He added that the central government granted the region many privileges despite his rebellion and refusal to deliver oil to Baghdad, pointing out that "Basra was destroyed because of oil extraction and did not receive the simplest rights."
He explained that "more than 2 billion dollars accumulated from the petrodollar allocations for several years owed by the central government did not give it to Basra," noting that "there is a clear defect in the policy of state administration and not to deal fairly with the provinces."
The Basra provincial council threatened last Thursday to resort to the competent courts to get his rights from the petro dollar allocations, accusing the government of dealing with duplication of granting the province funds not from his entitlement and prevent Basra from its rights.
