Human rights: removing abuses without providing an alternative is a violation of the constitutionally guaranteed right to housing

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on Friday [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/69608/%D8%A7%D8%B2%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A9 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AA%D8%AC%D8%A7%D9%88%D8%B2%D8%A7%D8%AA][size=13]cited abuses[/url] without providing an alternative in violation of the constitutionally guaranteed right to housing.
The head of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Aqeel al-Moussawi, said in a statement: The way used by some local governments in dealing with the issue of abuses on public property, sidewalks and streets and the method used to remove those abuses, without providing an alternative, is a violation of the right of constitutionally guaranteed housing.
He added: We all stand at the same distance in order to rebuild city centers and lift abuses, but in return do not destroy the homes of destitute and those with limited incomes.
Al-Moussawi called on the concerned authorities to take into account the humanitarian aspect in dealing with citizens and to adopt less stressful policies on them than those who suffered between the high prices and low incomes.They are the citizens of this country and they have rights and entitlements.It is the duty of local governments to find alternatives before embarking on any lifting of abuses.
