The Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced on Friday the resumption of its services via trains up and down to transport passengers from Baghdad to Basra province and vice versa as of today.
"The General Company for Iraqi Railways (one of the formations of the Ministry of Transport) has opened the outlets of reservation and pre-booking at all its offices for those wishing to travel on its modern trains to the southern governorates," the ministry said in a statement received.
"The first train will depart from Baghdad Central Station at 6:00 pm, while the first train will depart from Basra Station at 6:30 pm, passing through the southern stations (Nasiriyah, Samawah, Diwaniya and Hilla)."
It is noteworthy that the railway seeks to develop its services through the opening of new lines include most of the provinces as it is considered a convenient, fast and safe means of transport at reasonable prices compared with the private sector.
