Legal expert, Ali Al-Tamimi, stressed that British citizenship cannot be revoked simply by expressing a desire to revoke it.
Al-Tamimi wrote on his personal page on Facebook, saying that “the British Nationality Law of 1981 and amended for the year 2014 gave the authority to revoke citizenship to the Home Secretary exclusively for the necessities of the public interest and that there would be harm caused by the person in the public interest.”
He added, "It cannot be as soon as the desire is expressed. The reason must be found."
The designated Prime Minister, Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, submitted an application to the British embassy in Baghdad for the purpose of revoking his British citizenship due to his assumption of the position of prime minister.
