    Yes Iraq: Baghdad
It addressed a periodic World Bank report on business performance, the most important indicator for assessing the strength of global economic systems over a decade.
This report is considered one of the global measures most used in evaluating the regulatory performance of countries and the efforts of the private sector.
The country's ranking in the index is based on the average of sub-indicators such as investment activity, building permits, obtaining electricity and registering property, all in terms of time, cost, and necessary procedures.
For a whole decade, Iraq neglected to implement reforms in accordance with the standards of the business performance index from 2005 to 2022, as "reforms were very limited."
He indicated, according to what was prepared by the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] , Friday, August 21, 2020, to the improvement of Iraq in the field of business and access to credit information in 2018.

    Frustrating numbers

Iraq maintained its low ranks in this report, as its ranking in the Business Performance Index 2020 fell to 172nd out of 190 countries, achieving 44.7 points out of 100 points adopted by the report to measure progress in business performance.
The report indicates that a man in Iraq needs 8 procedures per day to register a company, which is an estimated percentage, but the reality says that it is much more, “from two to four months,” according to the index, while women need 9 procedures per day to open a company.
The report adds: "The cost of opening a business in Iraq 34% of per capita income, which is a factor that does not encourage investment."

In red tape, Iraq appears worse than poorer countries and has economic challenges, such as Afghanistan, Pakistan and Senegal, as it takes 167 days to extract papers to establish a warehouse or build a company, which is the longest period required compared to the mentioned countries.
According to the index, obtaining electricity for commercial projects requires 5 measures, which is a high rate, not to mention the need for 51 days and the cost of 384% of the average national income per capita in order to deliver electricity to the project.
The Iraq Index scored "zero" in the strength of legal rights in terms of in-kind guarantees and bankruptcy for the rights of borrowers and lenders.

The worst in the Middle East and North Africa

Iraq recorded the lowest percentage among the countries of the Middle East and North Africa in the number of individuals and companies registered in one of the public credit registries, which is 1.3%.

It is also the lowest level in the Middle East and North Africa, where it recorded 0% in the number of individuals and companies registered in a private credit bureau.
The index stated that the cost of importing in Iraq is $ 644, which is the highest cost compared to the cost of import in the Middle East and North Africa.
