    , Minister of Agriculture, Engineer Muhammad Al-Khafaji, chaired, today, Tuesday, in Baghdad, the final ministerial dialogue session of the regional conference, in the presence of the ministers of the participating countries, the Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mithaq Abdul-Hussein Obaid, the Ministry’s advisor, Dr. Mahdi Damad Al-Qaisi, and the Assistant Secretary-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization "FAO" Dr. Abdul Hakim Al-Waer, Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations ''FAO'' Safia Al-Suhail, Dr. Salah Hajj Hassan, the Permanent Representative of the Organization in Iraq and representatives of the participating countries. 

    Al-Khafaji stressed the need to continue work and unify the efforts of the FAO to support the agricultural sector to overcome the scarcity of water resources and climate change and to develop appropriate solutions to them, as well as to increase support and production through innovation for better, greener and more resilient food and agricultural systems to achieve the sustainable development goals.

    Al-Khafaji praised the pioneering role played by the organization in supporting strategic projects that contribute to the development and advancement of the agricultural sector, both plant and animal, and its support in stabilizing and providing agricultural services to rural communities.

    The attendees agreed on Khafaji's proposal, calling for a meeting that includes Iraq, Turkey and Iran to discuss the issue of shared water.

    The recommendations of the conference included researching the possibility of creating strategic food reserves that would suffice for a period of three months, adopting integrated policies in order to secure favorable conditions for investment in the agricultural and food sector, supporting countries to develop a regional plan to transform agricultural and food systems to be in line with national aspirations and visions and the organization’s strategic rains. Intensify efforts to address widening spatial, gender, and social and economic disparities and inequalities
