    Economy News - Baghdad
Informed sources announced that the government is currently working on establishing a customs barrier around the capital, Baghdad, to prevent imported goods entering from ports outside its control in the Kurdistan region and central and southern Iraq.
The sources told Al-Iqtisad News that the customs barrier begins to work on it, after the approval of the Minister of Finance, Ali Allawi, and it is similar to what Haider al-Abadi applied to confront the smuggled goods by the Kurdistan region and southern Iraq.
The sources noted that the companies that will implement this project are Iraqi, private, and not governmental, explaining that this measure will make the goods high in the capital Baghdad and reach the provinces of Diyala and Salah al-Din.
The sources pointed out that the Iraqi economy is currently facing great challenges represented by the work of the border crossings, as the goods are still entering without paying a customs tax in favor of the government because of corruption.
