Mubasher: Ayser Abdel Aziz Al-Nayeb, Director General of Groundwater in Iraq, said that he seeks to invest in desert lands.
Today, Saturday, Al-Nayeb told the Iraqi News Agency, INA, that the groundwater in those areas is insufficient, but hundreds or thousands of them can be invested, but it will not reach millions of dunams, because that requires a lot of water.
He added, that the ministry supports safe investment that does not lead to groundwater pollution, indicating that it is not possible to calculate groundwater because this requires studies, research and information, and it must be specialized studies and information that penetrates underground reservoirs.
Al-Naib indicated that the Directorate of Ground Water is now in the light of the study of the amount of groundwater in Iraq as a whole within a new two-pronged project that includes drilling wells and monitoring groundwater levels in Iraq.
He noted that there are only completed wells and the devices will be installed on them, and they will include wells in Mosul, Sulaymaniyah, Erbil, Diyala, Kirkuk, Al-Amarah, Basra, Samawah, Karbala, Najaf, Anbar and Hilla, and the percentage of clouds and decreases are monitored quantitatively and qualitatively.
