Basra Health Department issued, on Sunday, a clarification about the existence of a corruption file in the department worth 4 billion dinars.
A statement by the department, a copy of which was received by Mawazine News, stated that “at a time when our department appreciates the efforts made by the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee in supporting the Ministry of Health and its departments in the governorates to confront the Corona pandemic and their oversight role and based on what was stated in the office of the office Representative Jawad Abdul-Kazim al-Moussawi, a member of the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, states that there are violations in the contracts of the devices that were purchased by our department.
The statement added, "A specialized administrative committee was formed to answer the questions raised in the letter of the representative, and raise the answer to the Ministry of Health to address Parliament, as the purchase process took place through the formation of scientific advisory committees of doctors specializing in the field, in order to set purchasing specifications in line with the approvals and controls of the Ministry of Health, which Emphasizes solid global origins.
He continued, "The specifications were determined, according to which the offers were announced and the offers were submitted, and then the advisory committees chose the best among the submitted offers, in accordance with the ministerial and legal controls in terms of origin, prices and international specifications and their conformity with the controls, and the contract and purchase were completed."
A member of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Jawad Al-Moussawi, revealed earlier, suspicions of corruption of more than 4 billion dinars in one file in the Basra Governorate Health Department, which is the file of medical devices. Ended 29/A43
