Erbil (Kurdistan 24)- In its latest report on economic inflation in Iraq, the Iraq Future Foundation for Economic Research and Consultation confirmed that the inflation rate in the governorates of central and southern Iraq has reached 12%, while the rate of economic inflation in the governorates of Kurdistan Region is only 3%.
In this regard, the economic expert and founder of the Iraq Future Foundation, Manar Al-Obaidi wrote, asking, "The question that needs to be answered, why was the region able to maintain low inflation rates, compared to the rest of the Iraqi provinces? Despite the region's exposure, to the same conditions of changing the price of The exchange of the dollar and the economic crises, which passed over the whole of Iraq? The reason is simply, that the economic policy of the region succeeded in managing the crisis, through strategic planning that spanned for years, in return for confusion in managing the Iraqi economic file, with momentary decisions that brought us to what we have reached now.
When comparing the numbers, we find important sectors in the Kurdistan Region that have succeeded in reducing inflation, such as the housing sector, rent control, the food sector and education, while these sectors, in the central and southern governorates of Iraq, have suffered from a high rate of inflation.
On the other hand, when looking at the latest data of the Statistics Authority in the Kurdistan Region, and the data of the Statistics Authority in Iraq, it appears that the inflation rate in the governorates of central and southern Iraq is unevenly higher than that of the governorates of the Kurdistan Region, so that the inflation rate in electricity prices, private generators in the middle And southern Iraq 15.9%, and the housing rent amounted to 0.2%.
