Electoral Commission revealed, on Tuesday, measures that will be taken on polling day, while indicating that it had received 6 complaints, some of them related to trying to influence the voter's will.
The Assistant Media Spokesperson for the Elections Commission, Nibras Abu Souda, said, according to the official agency, that "the biometric cards were printed in stages in the registration centers, as the last update stage resulted in approximately two million and 400 thousand cards, and they are being distributed in the registration centers and by mobile teams." affiliated with the centers and the electoral governorate office," indicating that "the process of distributing cards is carried out on a daily basis to the voters."
She added that "the total number of printed biometric cards reached nearly 17 million, and the number of damaged cards was 4 million and 670,000 cards, and they are of two types: the biometric cards that were handed over to their owners after the modernization phase that took place for the period from February 1 to mid-April. Abu Souda confirmed, "The biometric cards are handed over to the relevant persons exclusively, and they are fingerprinted and signed for receipt," pointing out that "the operations of manipulating and buying voter cards, besides that it is a crime for which the law will be held accountable, up to imprisonment if proven, is a waste of money, as the The Commission has taken measures to ensure the security of the card, and it can only be used by its owners.
She added: "On the day of polling, the voter must present the biometric card along with the unified card or identity card along with the nationality certificate, in addition to the triple matching process, that is, the voter's fingerprint in addition to the fingerprint in the identity, which must match the fingerprint of the verification device. These conditions are not allowed for the voter to take another step towards the poll.”
She pointed out that "there are punitive measures imposed on attempts to change or influence the voter's will or give him a bribe, that is, in the event of a complaint supported by evidence, measures are taken and referred to specialized courts," noting that "the monitoring committees have not yet detected any cases of this." In this regard, the number of complaints received by the commission amounted to 6 complaints about sabotaging electoral propaganda and attempting to influence the will of the voters, and investigations are underway.
