    Today, Monday, Minister of Water Resources Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani issued a strict directive to deliver water quotas to the governorates, stressing the need for everyone to cooperate in order to overcome the water scarcity crisis.
    A statement issued by the media of the Ministry of Water Resources, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Al-Hamdani conducted a visit today to Maysan Governorate and discussed with its governor, Ali Douai, the irrigation reality and the water situation achieved in the governorate," explaining that "the meeting was attended by the directors of the administrative units in the governorate and a number of Among the specialized general managers and directors of the ministry's formations working in the governorate.
    Al-Hamdani stressed during the meeting, "the need for everyone to cooperate in order to overcome the water scarcity crisis," stressing "the need for the ministry to take immediate and quick measures to address the continuation of the campaign to remove violations of the taboos of rivers and irrigation projects of all kinds, and to follow up water distributions on all agricultural lands covered by the agricultural plan for the season." The current year through the application of the Marashna system to ensure fairness in distributions and for the purpose of completing the ministry’s plan for the current year as scheduled.”
    The Minister of Water Resources stressed "the necessity of following-up the absolute water expenditures in the areas of union between the governorates in order to secure the delivery of water quotas to the citizens and as decided for each governorate and according to the general water budget prepared by the ministry with the aim of succeeding its irrigation plan for the current agricultural season and addressing the water scarcity," directed by "Implementation of a strict Marashna system in order to deliver water quotas to the governorates of Dha'abeeb Al-Rihr."
    He continued, "Local governments must cooperate with the formations of the ministry operating in the provinces and with the support of the security forces for the purpose of inventorying the agricultural pumps installed bypassing the column of the Tigris River and its branches and raising it, and that follow-up should be daily to ensure justice in water distributions between the one governorate and between the governorates each other."
    Al-Hamdani listened to the most important problems and obstacles, and instructed to find solutions and treatments for them within the available possibilities, including increasing the automated effort working in the governorate from the ministry’s formations to double in order to increase the plan for cleansing the main and subsidiary rivers throughout the governorate, and praised the governor’s continuous support for the Ministry’s staff working in the governorate.
