Today, Sunday, the National Union confirmed that Barham Salih is its candidate for the post of President of the Republic .
And the political office of the union said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the leadership council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan met today, in the presence of Bafel Talabani, to discuss the Iraqi political situation, the constitutional entitlements of our people and the formation of the government."
He added, "It was talked seriously that the Kurdistan Democratic Party unilaterally and outside the will and unity of the Kurdish people and political forces, took steps and agreements with the political authorities, and presented its candidate for the position of President of the Republic."
He continued, "During the meeting, Talabani confirmed the eligibility of the Union for the position of President of the Republic, which is the entitlement of the Kurds and the Patriotic Union, and insists on these rights, even though the other parties presented their candidates away from consensus," explaining that "the National Union supports all full support for Barham Salih to assume the position of President of the Republic." .
