The leader of the State of Law coalition, Jassem Muhammad Jaafar, accused, on Saturday, the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, of seeking to create a new political equation by weakening the presidency in exchange for strengthening the presidency of the Kurdistan region.
Jaafar said in a statement to "The Information", "Masoud Barzani's goal in nominating Riber Ahmed for the presidency, which is the fourth line in the party and is one of the most prominent officials in organizing the referendum of the Kurdistan region, is to weaken the role of the presidency."
He added that "Barzani's lack of interest in the candidate's personality and leaving it to an unknown person who does not speak Arabic will have dire consequences for Iraqi politics," noting that "all the steps of the Democrat seek to give the Kurdistan Region presidency a broader role in international forums."
He pointed out that "the only solution is to neglect the candidate of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and open the doors of dialogue to choose a more patriotic candidate capable of heading the Republic and Iraq." End / 25 D
