The Presidency of the Republic issued a statement, on Tuesday, in which it considered the ongoing Turkish military operations inside the Iraqi borders "a breach of Iraqi sovereignty and a threat to Iraqi national security."
And the statement received by Mawazine News stated, "The Presidency of the Republic is following with great concern the ongoing Turkish military operations within the Iraqi borders in the Kurdistan region, and considers them a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and a threat to Iraqi national security."
The statement pointed out that "the repetition of Turkish military operations inside the Iraqi borders in the Kurdistan region and without coordination with the Iraqi federal government, despite previous calls to stop them and hold talks and coordination around them is unacceptable."
And he continued, "While we emphasize strengthening positive relations with Turkey on the basis of common interests, and resolving security issues through prior joint cooperation and coordination, unilateral security practices in addressing outstanding security issues are unacceptable, and Iraqi sovereignty must be respected."
He added, "The official Iraqi state's decision and its unified foreign policy are based on Iraq's continued refusal to make its land a field of conflicts and an arena for settling the accounts of others, encroaching on its sovereignty and threatening its security and internal stability, as well as its refusal to be a springboard for aggression and threats against any of its neighbors."
