From a rise”, revealing that “the production of fish ponds has now declined to only 200 thousand tons, compared to 800 thousand previously, due to the decision to cut off water from lakes, contributed and will contribute in the future to a continuous increase in the selling prices of local fish.”
For his part, the expert in fisheries affairs, Ali Moqbel Abdel Hussein, identified in an interview, “three strategic axes to rehabilitate and revitalize the fisheries sector in the country. The first includes rehabilitating and encouraging marine fishing activity within the territorial waters of the Arabian Gulf, which has an area of 900 square kilometers, by encouraging local investment companies.” The second focuses on rehabilitating fish farms in Baghdad and the governorates affiliated with the private sector to provide fingerlings, and the third focuses on developing the water bodies scattered in the country using the latest studies and research in force globally.”
