A split hits the frame because of Al-Maliki, and Al-Kazemi's nomination for a second term returns to the fore
Shafaq News/ Sources from within the coordination framework revealed, on Saturday, some details of their meeting yesterday at the home of the leader of the Wisdom Movement Ammar al-Hakim, which indicated a split between the Shiite political forces affiliated with the framework over the nomination of the leader of the Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, for himself for the position of Prime Minister of the next Iraqi government.
The coordination framework, which includes all Shiite forces except for the Sadrist movement, had called yesterday for the Iraqi parliament to convene this week and elect a President of the Republic in preparation for the formation of the next federal government.
The sources told Shafaq News Agency, "The meeting, which included all the Shiite political forces in the framework, discussed a number of issues concerned with forming the government, including the nomination of candidates, and the matter was not without tension and attraction between the parties, especially after it was revealed to them that the leader of the State of Law coalition will enter the race circuit." for the position of prime minister.
She explained that "most of the leaders of the framework reject Maliki's candidacy on the grounds that they agreed to nominate candidates from the second line in the parties and currents for the position, while (Al-Maliki) reverses that," adding that "the withdrawal of the Sadrist bloc changed the numerical equation for the seats of most Shiite forces, which gave (Al-Maliki) The opportunity to prevent the attempts of some to confront or be unique in the decision.”
Those sources also pointed out that "it was agreed in principle that whoever holds the highest number of parliamentary seats will have the right to nominate a candidate for prime minister, meaning that the Al-Fateh coalition led by Hadi al-Amiri, who has become 45 seats after the withdrawal of the Sadrist bloc, has the right to nominate a candidate for prime minister." .
According to the data that the sources noted to them, "the former Minister of Interior Muhammad Al-Ghabban, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Muhammad Al-Sudani, and the head of the caretaker government, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, will enter the race for the prime minister's chair."
The sources summarized the voting mechanism for the prime ministerial candidate, and said that "it will be by adopting the votes of the framework's general body, which includes the framework's deputies along with the forces allied with it."
Regarding the Friday sermon of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, the sources stated, “The conferees were also divided over what al-Sadr proposed in his sermon that was recited at the Friday prayer that was held in Sadr City yesterday. To form the government in the sense of introducing paragraphs that can be applied or support the proposals of the framework, while others suggested that al-Sadr withdrew from the entire political process and therefore the framework must proceed with the formation of the government according to the plans prepared for that.
And the sources continued by saying that "the meetings of the coordination framework will be held at the house of the leader of the Wisdom Movement (Al-Hakim), considering that the latter decided not to participate in the political process, which means that he stands on the sidelines."
Yesterday, Friday, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, renewed his call for the dissolution of armed factions operating outside the framework of the state, while stressing the need for "tested" political figures not to take positions in the next federal government.
It is noteworthy that the political blocs agreed in the parliament session that was held on Thursday, June 23 of this year, to proceed with the formation of the new federal government, according to the principle of "partnership, balance, and consensus", which are the conditions announced by Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani.
