The leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Ali Al-Fatlawi, confirmed, on Wednesday, that the coordinating framework will vote on the candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in the next parliament session.

Al-Fatlawi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma that “the interest of the Iraqi people in the coordination is more important than all special interests, and the government must be formed as soon as possible,” stressing that “the framework is being tightened by the Kurdish parties to agree on a settlement candidate before the next parliament session and not to repeat the 2018 scenario.” .
He added, "The coordination framework will allow the Kurdish parties until the next parliament session to conduct negotiations and intensify meetings in order to come up with one candidate to be voted for and elected as President of the Republic in the next government."
And he continued, "In the event that differences persist between the two parties, the coordination position is clear and will go to pass the PUK candidate and complete the procedures for forming the next government."
The coordination framework had put forward several positive initiatives during the past months to the two Kurdish parties in order to agree on a compromise candidate, and sent several negotiating committees to resolve the situation between the two parties, but no agreement has been reached so far on a figure representing the two parties in the position of President of the Republic.
