Yesterday, Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani discussed with officials of the Ministry of Electricity the problems of the electric current and ways of treatment. Emirs of ISIS” in Nineveh Governorate.
A government statement stated that Al-Sudani visited the Ministry of Electricity building, and held a meeting with the Minister of Electricity Ziad Ali Fadel and the responsible staff in the ministry, noting that "the meeting discussed the file of electrical energy, and to identify the problems diagnosed in this file, and ways to quickly treat it."
Al-Sudani stressed, “The current government has placed the electricity sector among its priorities for its work; its importance in the lives of citizens. He explained that "for more than a decade and a half, huge sums have been allocated to improve electricity, but they have not been used much, and the electricity shortage crisis has continued and has caused an increase in the suffering of citizens." Al-Sudani directed the Ministry of Electricity to “develop a plan with clear timelines to address this sector, with tangible results starting from the summer of 2023 and for the seasons to follow, in addition to activating maintenance work and responding quickly to citizens’ complaints.”
On the other hand, the meeting related to the file of the displaced witnessed emphasizing the importance of resettling them, addressing their issue humanitarianly, continuing to implement programs for their rehabilitation and reintegration in preparation for their return to their areas of origin, and taking the necessary measures to overcome obstacles to this. During the meeting, Al-Sudani evaluated the file of Al-Hol camp, as it includes two security and humanitarian dimensions, and distributed roles to the concerned authorities, each according to its competence, in order to speed up the resolution of this file, whether in its humanitarian or security aspect, and what it requires of security checks for all displaced families in the camp. The meeting touched on Iraq's efforts to deal with this file positively and its quest to develop final solutions to it, calling on the international community to carry out its duties towards solving the problem of the displaced in Al-Hol camp.
In addition, the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency in the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced yesterday, Saturday, the elimination of "Amir Qati' Badush", a leader of ISIS and its terrorist detachment in Nineveh Governorate. "Under the direct supervision of the Minister of Interior, and with a distinguished intelligence effort, and according to accurate intelligence information, the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency, in cooperation with the Joint Operations Command and a force from the Nineveh Operations Command, identified one of the terrorist hideouts of the so-called "Badush Mountains Sector" within the Nineveh Governorate. She added that a specialized work team was formed from the intelligence agency and raided the den, which is a 15-meter-long tunnel. It reported that during the raid, clashes took place with members of the "ISIS" organization present inside the den. In the statement, it confirmed that the so-called "Amir of Badush District" and his terrorist detachment, consisting of two elements, had been liquidated, and explosive belts and light weapons were found.
