Today, Wednesday, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, announced the inclusion of an increase in social welfare salaries in the general budget for the year 2023, while he revealed a new portion of inclusion in social care next month.
Al-Asadi said, in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency and its follow-up, "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the increase in the entitlements of those covered by social care will be on the general budget for the year 2023 due to the lack of sufficient allocations with the absence of an operational budget for the year 2022," noting that "discussions were held with the Minister of Finance about The mechanism for securing the amount of the increase.
He pointed out that "a new meal of social care coverage will be announced early next month," noting that "next year's budget included the expansion of social care coverage, and we have more than two and a half million applicants whose cases will be examined starting from the end of this month."
The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, directed to start conducting field research for the new beneficiaries in preparation for including those who are eligible for social care within the next year's budget. He also directed the completion of the ration card materials for poor families in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce.
