Environment Minister Nizar Muhammad Saeed affirmed, on Monday, that Iraq is committed not to flaring gas starting from the year 2030, indicating that the government seeks to integrate the Iraqi private sector with projects to transform the green economy.
Saeed said in a speech he delivered during the eighth Iraq Conference and Exhibition for Oil, Gas and Energy in Baghdad, which was attended by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the Iraqi government has adopted initiatives to shift towards clean energies and develop infrastructure for the oil sector, especially with regard to the development of associated gas, as Iraq benefits $ 2.5 billion and reduces emissions 14 %".
He added, "Iraq is committed not to flaring gas, starting from the year 2030, as its production of clean energy will be 12 megawatts."
"The government is seeking to integrate the Iraqi private sector with projects to transition to a green economy," he said.
